Acoustical sound is sensed by a microphone and converted to an analog electrical signal. The signal is then transferred to the mi8 input via a standard mic cable.

Inside the mi8 (input) the analog audio signal is amplified by a mic pre-amp, converted to digital audio by analog to digital converters, and then reformatted for multicast transmission on the Momentum network.

The networked audio is now available to all output devices on the Momentum network.

The mo8 (output) is the reverse of the input process. Transmissions from the Momentum network are converted to digital audio and then back to analog audio.

The signal is amplified by the output amplifiers and sent through the sound system for conversion to acoustical sound.
